University Dorm (Bergwall Hall) 1.3.1

   (26 reviews)

About This File

This is my college dorm which I designed to be as accurate as possible! Still a work in progress, but I wanted to share what I had up to this point (close to 200 hours of work!)

Also included is a working elevator and fire alarm. I hope you enjoy! Please let me know what you think and any suggestions you have.

Reuse and modification

Please feel free to reuse any code or assets contained in this map, however I would ask that you credit me on your submission's page and in any applicable files (within a comment in a lua or XML file for instance). I'd be happy to help you adapt any code you want to use for your own map, just shoot me a message!

Check out the options for this map within the mod loader in Teardown to disable the fire alarm or lighting to improve performance.

Special thanks to FireHart100#3621 for help debugging performance issues.

Mod Loader Installation

Download bergwall_1.3.zip, extract it, and place the bergwall folder within your Teardown mods folder. Enjoy!

Gabe,

Excellent job!  Did you create all the assets (walls, props, etc)? I am creating and compiling a collection of assets for this community and was wondering if you would allow usage of parts of this map and assets to be included into the upcoming community asset pack...

The catch is the community asset pack will allow unrestrictive usage for using, modifying and sharing back to the community without requiring credit or attribution.  All assets in this pack will allow users to own modified assets as if it was their own creation.  The idea behind this is so that we can take all bottlenecks out of the creative workflow in order to help make this the best moding community and sandbox game ever!  I am using such an unrestrictive approach to all of my previous and future uploads to teardown mods.

Can I include parts of this map in the upcoming asset pack, to be released with the same unrestrictive license as mentioned above?  (no pressure, just asking)
Thanks for your consideration!

Thank you!

I created almost all the assets in this map. Only the yellow van, saloon car, and pine trees were stock assets already in the game. Let me consider your proposal and I will get back to you, thanks!

Great job on the map! I have a question, when will support for the experimental branch be added for this map?

I hope to add it soon! I haven't downloaded the experimental branch yet myself, but I hope to get around to it in the next few days.

I really like the idea of this map, especially from seeing screenshots and such. But, it lags so bad I can't face the building or even enter it. Any way to optimize it a bit more? Perhaps a version without lights (if that's even the reason)?

Swiss cheesed it again using the mod version! 😄 Seems to have better performance. Although I think last time it was because fire and smoke really bog down PCs. So just stuck to guns.

Very, very nice map. Been downloading quite a few times and it gets better with every update. Performance is okay - nice addition being able to turn off the alarm in the settings but it would also be nice to have some kind of fire alarm system like in real life where the alarm can be switched off after checking for / extinguishing all fires. So just a button for disabling - i am not into modding of teardown yet so i don't know how "difficult" a feature like this would be. But there's a script for the elevator so i think you might already have planned it in a future update.

Keep on going, very cool work 🙂

also you should make to where if you break all the fire alarms they dont go off i see alarms i dont see detectors so idk if its a alarm/detector if it is then your dorm is screwed cuz one detector at the back of each hallways is not enough detectors

may i ask how you turn off the power supply to make the building go dark? feels great when you do that and set fire to the building. but when i try i end up blowing up half of it first to turn off the power

Some report fires cut the alarms and electric eventually, For me its when I blow up the first section of the building just past the reception.

What is it exactly tho thats knocking out the power? If we had a location we could deal with the alarms and many of us could also use this to alleviate fps loss on slightly less powerful computers.

I personally wouldn't want the electric or alarm removed because its that realism I love about this map but it would be greatly appreciated if something could inform me as to where this thing is

Link is broken. File downloaded is <1kb and says:

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" standalone="yes"?>
<Error>
    <Code>InvalidArgument</Code>
    <Message>Backblaze does not support the 'x-amz-acl' header for this API call.</Message>
